Traditional Irish Musician

Alyson has been playing the tin whistle and traditional Irish flute for twenty three years; previous teachers include Mary Bergin and Peter Browne.

Currently Alyson performs with the group Viiksi who play a mix of traditional Irish and Scandinavian folk music. Viiksi have recently returned from a tour in Finland where they featured at the E.T folk festival in Roveniemi, Lappland.

Alyson has performed at Dublin Castle for the president of Ireland and the Bulgarian president, at the National Concert Hall of Ireland, the Mansion House, the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre and the Royal Academy of Music, London where she performed with the group Reelan.

Alyson has attended workshops and masters classes with performers such as Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and Dermot Byrne, Harry Bradley, Kieran Hanrahan and Kevin Glackin; she has also featured on the album ‘Simple Philosophers’, which was produced by Steve Cooney.
